| 144 | - recorded in Dutch on 27 November 1626 in the Book of Marriages of the Pieterskerk in Leiden. Attendants/witnesses were Gerard De Forest and his wife Hester de la Grange. The Pieterskerk is the oldest church in Leiden, built in teh 13-14th centuries as the Catholic church, but it became a Reformed Church by the time of this record. In English, it is sometimes known as the Reformed Dutch Church of Saint Peter. The marriage was also recorded in French on 28 November 1626 in the Book of Marriages of the Walloon Church in Leiden. No attendants/witnesses are named in the French record. Both Jean and Rachel were living at the Voldersgracht. Marriage dates vary: The original book of marriages of the Pieterskerk in Leiden records the marriage on 27 Nov 1626 between Jean Monier......; Riker gives the date as 12 Dec 1626 and states that they were married by the pastor of the Walloon Church, information not present in the Pieterskerk records; W.I.C. Rammelman Elsevier, archivist at Leiden and researcher for James Riker, states in an article printed in Duth in De Navorscher 20 (1870) 439-441, that they were betrothed on 28 Nov 1626 and married on 13 Dec 1626; the actual record at the Walloon Church in Leyden gives the date of the French marriage ceremony as 28 Nov 1626 (Waalse (Vrouwe) kerk archives, Marriage Book for the year 1626. | Family: F2280
